WHAT IS SULONG PILIPINAS?
Sulong Pilipinas: Philippine Development Forum is the annual consultative conference between the Duterte Administration and the private sector. Top recommendations from past Sulong events, such as the National ID, Ease of Doing Business law, and the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program, have already been acted on by the government.
In 2018, the administration solicited feedback from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which account for more than 99% of businesses in the Philippines. Four regional forums were held in Cebu City; San Fernando, La Union; Clark, Pampanga; and Davao City to increase participation of MSMEs. Over a thousand stakeholders were consulted across all workshops.
ACHIEVEMENTS FROM SULONG PILIPINAS
The Comprehensive Tax Reform Program (CTRP) is needed to accelerate poverty reduction and to sustainably address inequality, in order to attain the President’s promise of tunay na pagbabago. By making the tax system simpler, fairer, and more efficient, additional – and a more sustainable stream of – revenues will be generated to make meaningful investments in our people and infrastructure, which will help achieve our vision for the Philippines.
Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Act of 2018 aims to reduce red tape significantly in government transactions and be more responsive to the needs of entrepreneurs.
The National ID system is one of the programs mandated with the enactment of TRAIN Law. National ID will help prompt implementation of government programs by helping identify Filipinos in need of certain services.
